Mrs. Bernice F. Susi, 78, of Cliff Street, Canajoharie, New York, died, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at her home following a progressive illness.
Born on December 19, 1931 in Morrisonville, NY, she was the daughter of Carl C. Earing, Sr. and Bertha M. Rock Earing. Mrs. Susi was educated at Canajoharie Central School and spent most of her life in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Susi, with her late husband, Dick, was the owner and operator of the former VanWie's Restaurant in Canajoharie, NY from 1969-1978.
She worked on the Montgomery County Board of Elections for many years.
Mrs. Susi was a member of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church and was currently a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264. She loved fishing, reading, baking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
On April 30, 1948 in Canajoharie, NY, she married Richard J. Susi. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1998. She was also predeceased by a brother, Carl C. Earing, Jr. on January 12, 2000.
Mrs. Susi is survived by her son, Michael R. and Jana Susi of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Toni Temple of Citrus Springs, FL; sisters, Norma & William Fiacchi of Canajoharie, NY, Iona & Paul Vaccaro of Wappinger Falls, NY, Mickey & Joseph Russo of Concord, NH, Esther and Robert Nurnberger of Canajoharie, NY; brother, James and Margaret Earing of Earlsville, NY; granddaughter, Erin Susi of St. Johnsville, NY; grandson, Dean Temple of Naugatuck, CT; and great-grandson, Ethan Leach of St. Johnsville, NY.
